Fast Food Chain Acquires Parcel From Town of Lewisville
Fast Food Chain Acquires Parcel In Lewisville

The Town of Lewisville has recently came to an agreement to sell the property acquired from Jeff Zenger in 2023 for an estimated $2 million dollars.
At a recent town council meeting, the members discussed selling the property adjacent to Shallowford Town Square.
“We never planned on acquiring the property but felt it was the best move for our town financially”, said one town employee off the record.
The sale has been finalized with CKE Restaurants. Holdings. Inc according to CEO Ned Lyerly.
Lyerly said, “We are excited to become a part of the Lewisville community”.
CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc. is an American fast food corporation and is the parent organization for the Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s, Green Burrito, and Red Burrito brands. CKE Restaurants is headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee.
CKE Restaurants Holdings, Inc website says Carl’s Jr. Restaurants LLC and Hardee’s Restaurants LLC have over 3,800 franchised or company-operated restaurants in 44 states and 43 foreign countries and U.S. territories.
The sale was reported to Forsyth Register of Deeds for a total of $827,000 on January 15th, 2025.
“The funds will help boost our balance sheet as a town. We take pride in being fiscally responsible and the proceeds from this sale will hopefully prevent future property tax rate hikes.” said the Mayor of Lewisville.
“Everything is becoming more expensive. The Town of Lewisville is not immune to inflation, striking this deal with CKE Restaurants was a win for our residents”
The Town of Lewisville, with the sale of this parcel, has reversed course on a previous stance of keeping fast food restaurants out of Lewisville.
“We put out a Comprehensive Study every few years. We ask our citizens for feedback. One thing we have received is steady request for more food options, more dining”, said a member of Lewisville Town Planning.
While CKE Restaurants Holdings have acquired the parcel, plans for a groundbreaking day has not officially been announced.
“We want to get started as soon as possible. We expect to be finished and opened by the end of 2025”, Lyerly said.
Lyerly continued, “The location will fit perfectly for our Hardees footprint. We have secured exclusive rights with the Town of Lewisville that no other drive thru establishments will be permitted until 2030.”
The Town of Lewisville has long planned the addition of the Great Wagon Road, which will run parallel with Shallowford Road. The project has been long awaited with removal of certain buildings and houses already taken place and more slated to come down to make way for the new road.
“The Town of Lewisville is going to change dramatically with the addition of the GWR”, said a Lewisville town council off the record.
“People complain about property taxes increasing but then they complained about the apartments being built. At the end of the day, we realized our residents were never going to be happy with any type of progress. Everyone just wants to build cookie cutter homes on small parcel of land but we need more businesses added to our tax base!”
Forsyth County announced a recent property tax rate hike which many in Lewisville and Clemmons have complained is salt on the wound when already experiencing higher cost on gas, groceries, and other expenses.
Lewisville resident, Becky Johnson was excited about hearing the news of a Hardees coming to our town. “I love those “Made from Scratch” biscuits, good Lord, I will probably gain 10 pounds in the first month Hardees is open.
Others in Lewisville was not so happy about the announcement, Jeff Henderson voiced his frustration. “We are the only town to buy a parcel for close to $2 million dollars and then sell it for less than half and our leaders act like we should pat them on the back!?”
Henderson added, “I have not even went to Hardees in decades; why not add something that fits in with our town like a Chipotle?”
The Town of Lewisville planning board is requiring that the front of the Hardees building fit in with the surrounding town.
Lyerly said, “This Hardees will be unique, we will have the exterior featuring Granite, which will be locally sourced from Mt. Airy, NC. The building will be state of the art for Hardees, including extra landscaping that will be top of the line which I am sure all Lewisville residents will love”.
Once the announcement for the groundbreaking ceremony date is announced, Lewisville Mayor and Clemmons Mayor will be present.
“Clemmons is excited to see Lewisville finally get a Fast Food Drive Thru establishment. This will alleviate some of our traffic issues over here in Clemmons. Those big backs from Lewisville were coming over here for lunch and dinner daily and causing so many wrecks, it was becoming a real problem!” said Clemmons Mayor.
